Suspected Stalker Inquired: 'Yet What If I Could Be Madeleine?'

A female indicted with stalking Kate McCann apparently left her a voicemail message which posed: "what if I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has repeatedly declared she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges charged with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the court heard phone records and evidence recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt repeatedly asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout the past two years.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most covered investigations and continues to be open.

'I Do Not Need Money'

Another recorded message, shared in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm heavy and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I know what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "Suppose there is a slight possibility that I am she? What happens next? Is that not significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I have a existence here in Poland, I only wish to discover," the message continued.

The panel was informed that by means of emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, forwarded childhood photos to her phone in a bid to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who compiled the data, told the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the communication logs.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann picked up a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "the wrong phone."

During that incident Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I won't give up and I plan to establish my point."

The court heard Mrs Spragg struck up a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding joining her on a trip to the McCanns' property in Leicestershire in last December.

Call logs revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out via messaging service to Mrs McCann to express the press had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the time preceding the appearance to Rothley, that area, in last December.

The court learned communications between the two individuals, in November 2024, planning trying to acquire Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her trash or from cutlery at a dining venue.

"We have to make a stand," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the visit to their home, Mrs Spragg sent a communication which stated: "We find ourselves sat near the McCanns' residence with our vehicle dark resembling detectives. I desired to accomplish this with another person I never thought I would be doing that with the McCanns."
